My Local Optician - Eye Care in Pregnancy

Although free eyecare is not extended outside the normal groups for pregnant women this is not to say that it is not recommended.

My Local Optician - Silhouette launches iPhone App

My Local Optician - Silhouette launches iPhone App

February 2010

Silhouette, the world’s leading rimless eyewear brand, has launched an innovative iPhone application, Virtual Mirror that helps glasses wearers select the right Silhouette eyewear to harmonise with their face. The app is free to download and the only application of its kind focusing exclusively on rimless design, based on the ‘Virtual Mirror’ programme developed by Silhouette and already running on the company’s main website.

Thanks to this unique new iPhone version of the application, it is now possible to try out rimless eyewear and sunglasses in an enjoyable manner- regardless of location and time of day. The result – a portrait with rimless eyewear – can be sent to friends and family immediately by e-mail for feedback. Users can try out new designs and colours in a virtual environment and it provides the chance to form an initial impression on the “real” pair they will have professionally adjusted by an optician.

This is how the application works on the iPhone:

Users take a photo with their iPhone or select an existing photo from an album. Easy-to-follow instructions guide them through the application. Users can try out the models from Silhouette’s nearly endless line of variations that work for them.

The power user function makes it possible to test several models quickly. The “recipe”: simply shake the iPhone and the next model will appear. Once the right pair has been found, the image can be sent out via e-mail quickly and effortlessly

Where can I find Silhouette’s Virtual Mirror for the iPhone?

Downloading Virtual Mirror for the iPhone is easy. The simplest way is to download the application for free at www.silhouette.com/iphoneapp. If a user has installed Apple’s multimedia administration programme iTunes, then he or she can download it from there by searching for “virtual mirror”.

Once again, the Austrian brand Silhouette has shown its spirit of innovation. According to Silhouette Brand Director, Andreas Aschauer-Martinelli, “We are excited to be the first on the market whose eyewear can be tried out virtually and flexibly with this application. This way, we can show people that wearing, selecting and trying out eyewear is a fun experience”

For all Facebook and Twitter users: access your profile pages on Facebook and Twitter and become fans of Silhouette. You’ll find the latest information regarding the brand and have the opportunity to share experiences with other Silhouette fans.

Zoobug highlights new styles for Spring/Summer 2010

February 2010

Enticing shapes, quality materials and bold colours are key highlights in the new My First Zoobug optical collection, a collection of handmade acetate optical styles, especially designed for 2-8 year olds. Included in the line are the two boy’s frames, Spy and Zoom, inspired by grown-up men’s styling and the stylish geek chic fashion trend which has been popularised in recent seasons.

Model Zoom has a slightly curved frame and comes in blue or dark brown, combined with layers of acetate in contrasting tones. Available in size 44-15, model Zoom will have special appeal to bigger boys of 7 and 8 years old who want to look as cool as their dads!

Model Spy comes in classic black or a more unusual bold mustard, combined with metal arms. The model is offered in size 43-16. Model Spy is a quirky design with a slightly rounded eye shape that is flattering on a variety of faces. Zoom and Spy boast Zoobug’s hand-adjustable rubber tips which are comfortable and ensure the styles fit is snugly on the face.

Zoobug has also created new girls’ styles in its My First Zoobug Sunglass range for 2-12 year olds. Each of the models has a strong vintage influence, created to make the designs instantly appealing to a young age group.

Model Butterfly is a unique oversize shape offered in favourite shades of pink, purple and pale blue. While going all out to offer a fun fashion statement, the model is fitted with high-quality shatterproof CR39 lenses and bendable rubber tipped arms.

Model Kat is the perfect style for young girls wanting grown-up fashion that is easy to wear. Kat comes in chic shades of tortoiseshell, red or purple, with contrasting bright pink arm tips. Both Kat and Butterfly feature tiny diamante inserts for extra sparkle, and an engraved Zoobug logo.
